NBA Upgrades Foul Against Rose to a Flagrant
Derrick Rose left Friday night's game with an injured sprained ankle after being hit across the neck area by Bucks forward Greg Monroe. The officials looked at the replay immediately after the incident and still labeled it as a common foul.
According to ESPN:
"The NBA overruled that decision Saturday, upgrading it to a flagrant 1, which is defined in the NBA rulebook as unnecessary contact committed by a player against an opponent."
Unfortunately for Rose, the foul upgrade doesn't do much for his sprained ankle but perhaps is finally a nod of acknowledgement to the non-calls he's received over the majority of his career in terms of contact at the basket.
It's likely wishful thinking as Rose is on record as early as 2010 complaining about the disparity of fouls he doesn't get when driving the lane. Not much has changed 7 years later.
