Montrezl Harrell for Most Improved?
It was just a matter of time before Montrezl Harrell made his mark in Doc Rivers's rotation. Sure, LA has been decimated by injury in 2017-18...but Harrell's mixture of skill + hustle is impossible to ignore for too long.
Has LAC finally found the ideal third big alongside Blake Griffin & DeAndre Jordan? For years, the Clips could never find that reliable, 15-20 minute (min.) guy to come in, not make mistakes, score & board a bit + not miss a beat whenever Griffin & DJ sat.
Enter: Montrezl.
After a rocky start mired by inconsistent PT, Harrell avg. 10 points in December and just under 12/night so for in January. And in the vein of DJ, he's shooting 60% on the year!
His moves aren't limited to dunks, however, as Harrell's shown some ability facing up, beating his man off the dribble and converting short hooks around the rim. He's become a go-to option for Lou Will & Milos Teodosic off simple feeds/dump offs & up-top flushes.
Harrell played 31 minutes last night - expect that number to stay pretty constant til Jordan is back in action.
