Jameer Nelson Signs w/ Pelicans

With free agent signee Rajon Rondo sitting out with a sports hernia until approximately 4-6 weeks from now, the Pelicans front office decided it would pull the trigger on shoring up their backcourt.

In a weird whirlwind of events, the Cavs needed the space to sign Dwyane Wade, so they cut Richard Jefferson. Denver then signed Jefferson after he cleared Atlanta's waivers and cut Jameer Nelson to make space for Jefferson. Now, the Pelicans are cutting Jordan Crawford to make space for the Nelson signing.

So long story short, Dwyane Wade cost Jordan Crawford a job.

All semantics aside, the 14-year vet should provide stability to a backcourt clearly in panic mode right now. Even at age 35, Nelson posses starting-level ability in today's game, with one of his most important assists being shooting, as he shot 38% from three last season with Denver.

Nelson ultimately decided on the Pelicans after deliberating over contenders like the Thunder and Rockets due to a discussed larger chance of playing time.
