Tyson Chandler donned his hometown team’s jersey last for the first time to a standing ovation and he promptly proceeded to earn his keep, dialing in a performance packed with intangibles and hustle.
Chandler’s buyout from Phoenix and signing to LA was inteded to bolster a crumbling frontline with only JaVale McGee to depend on.
Although Tyson's better years are behind him, last night he displayed that veteran knowledge of the game and ‘old-man strength’ are the secret ingredients for quality competing at 36 years old and 18 years in the league, straight out of high school.
Chandler finished the night with 2 points, and 9 rebounds in 23 minutes but some of his most impressive work came from being in the right spots on defense, forcing KAT into turnovers and 3-second violations, and creating 2nd and 3rd possessions for the Lakers with his high-octane offensive rebounding.
Check out his debut with the Lakers below, along with his thoughts on playing with LeBron James for the first time since their short Team USA stint in 2012.
