Cam Whitmore’s slide to #20 (in the 2023 NBA Draft) could be looked back on as a very strange decision for a lot of teams.
Whitmore’s been a revelation throughout the 2023 Summer League, showcasing his exceptional skills and undeniable talent on the court. A bit more polished than some might have expected, his dominant performances have not gone unnoticed: today, Whitmore was crowned Summer League MVP with averages of 20.4 ppg, 5.6 rpg and 3 steals/game on nearly 47% shooting.
From his high-flying dunks and defensive awareness to his silky smooth, self-created shots, Whitmore consistently demonstrated why he’s regarded as one of the most promising young rooks (to watch) in 2023-24.
Houston’s (suddenly) deep rotation might be a deterrent in terms of early playing time but don’t be surprised if Whitmore makes his way in come late November/December.
