Orlando’s Jalen Suggs is an exciting, up & comer whose competitive edge helped push him to becoming a Top 5 draft pick in 2021. After an inconsistent rookie season, the impetus was on Suggs to improve all aspects of the game, particularly his overall efficiency from the field.
Suggs worked feverishly on his game in the offseason - so far (this season), he’s upped his scoring to almost 15 points/night on 45% shooting (from 36% as a rook). His three ball looks a lot better - he’s shooting it confidently (even well beyond the arc at times), but isn’t settling to much or relying heavily upon on it when it isn’t falling.
Down the stretch of Orlando’s win over Golden State, Suggs led the way with big shot after big shot (hit go-ahead 3), while playing very strong defense: created multiple steals (4! on the night) v. Stephen Curry (who got off in his own right: 39!, 9 & 3 boards).
Huge, emotional W for both Suggs & the Magic: overcame a 16-point 3rd quarter deficit to defeat the champs - it’s something to build on as Orlando climbs back towards respectability (in the winning department).
Suggs’s Line: career-high 26! pts, 9 dimes & 4! steals
