After coming up short against the (eventual champion) Denver Nuggets in the 2023 Postseason, the Phoenix Suns wasted no time trying to improve its roster.
Yesterday, the Suns sprung a trade for All-Star Bradley Beal from the Washington Wizards in exchange for Chris Paul (who was eventually re-routed to the Dubs), Landry Shamet, and a couple of future second-round picks.
While Beal occupies the same position as superstar Devin Booker, he adds another potent, scoring punch to a lineup that already features Kevin Durant.
It remains to be seen whether Beal or Booker will take hold of the starting PG spot, though expect the pair to start, and play, a ton together. Instead of focusing on positional strategy, Phoenix seems to prefer stacking talent across the board to (hopefully) overwhelm opponents on a nightly basis.
Beal brings a career avg. of just under 23 points/night to Phoenix - if he returns to his normal level, they have to be considered on the short list of favorites to win the West in 2024.
