NBA ROLE: VERSATILE, TWO-WAY PLAYMAKER
The #1 overall pick in 2016, Ben Simmons is a two-way star; Simmons is wired w/ an uncommon combination of elite physical tools & a natural feel for the game; excellent playmaker at 6’10 – Simmons uses his size and (methodical) acceleration to burst down the floor but relies upon his basketball IQ to place perfect passes; signature dimes: pinpoint ‘pitch-aheads’ (on the run), needle threads & lasers to outside shooters...to name a few; great off-hand finisher, frequently converts floaters, hooks & flushes w/ his right; Simmons isn't the most graceful scorer but utilizes pace + power to a unique advantage (great rebounder, devastating finisher on the break); excellent defender, tough to look good against – versatile, can check 1-4 effectively; can’t continue to ignore the outside game (has to keep defenders honest and at least attempt mid-long rangers) – teams will sit on Simmons til the lefty hitch is gone and he proves capable of knocking em down consistently; “rediscovering” his game in Brooklyn: Simmons has the opportunity to (help) lead a playoff push w/ a remixed roster in 2024
