For many years to come, Dereck Lively II will patrol in the middle in Dallas; landed in the right spot to flourish, with the elite, star playmakers (Luka & Kyrie) to benefit immensely from (off lob catches, breakdowns & on the break); textbook “catch and” finisher: high leaper, fast-twitch athlete w/ instincts and awareness of how to exploit PnR defenders; big-time athlete at the 5: new wave-sort of center w/ a reel that features in-between the legs dunks, windmills & skyscraping oops; needs to significantly improve foul shooting + develop a couple of go-to moves from the paint to about 15 feet (basically, anything from hooks to foul-line Js); very high activity level, makes a habit of beating opposing bigs down the floor and outworking them on the glass; perfect “five-man” tandem alongside Daniel Gafford - D-Live’s a fellow, emphatic Watch DOG w/ versatility; tremendous X-Factor during Dallas’s 2024 Finals run; made NBA All-Rookie team: Lively II could become a perennial All-Star if he stays the course
