BARO NOTES:
(The Dubs are one win away from winning it all!)
•Huge s/o to Andrew Wiggins on the huge performance in Game 5. As often is the case, Wiggins played his “X-Factor” role to the highest degree - stayed very aggressive one both ends (hunted for effective shots on offense, played excellent D on both Jayson Tatum & Jaylen Brown) while putting in another incredible night on the glass (13 boards).
A. Wiggins’s consistency and attention to detail has caught up to his crazy talent. He recognizes the magnitude of the moment and has delivered big time.
• Jordan Poole: DID IT AGAIN!
• Boston’s left picking up the pieces after losing back to back Finals games. The bench was a no-show in Game 5 - someone’s gotta step up despite Ime Udoka already shortenening the rotation to 8 players. Derrick White, Payton Pritchard & Grant Williams need combine for at least 20-25 points for the C’s to have a chance to push it to 7.
White’s been steady for most of the series, while Williams and, especially, Pritchard have seen their roles steadily diminished. Grant Williams seems like the most likely candidate to chip in about 7-11 points alongside the possible 12-18 points White figures to provide.
Only the following questions remain:
Will Udoka even further shorten the rotation?
Can Williams stay out of his own head and stop getting distracted by the physicality of the series?
If so, Boston could (more than) use some positive scoring production.
• Jayson Tatum & Jaylen Brown: virtuoso performances in Game 6? Or is Game 6 Klay otw?
