A late-bloomer outta USC, De’Anthony Melton makes a mark as a “breakstarter” & utility shutdown guy - Melton turns steals/blocks into pts, is known for securing 50/50 balls, tap outs, dives; fundamental, athletic defender; leverages wingspan perfectly (plays much bigger than size), always keeps hands up while sliding to contest, able to record swats due to long limbs + athleticism; Melton makes plays on both ends - improving shooter off the catch (good for a couple triples/night), has nice explosion on shots below the rim; provides intangibles: good backcourt boarder, stuffs stat stuffer, great lane filler in transition - ideal for 3-guard sets; needs to further improve ball-handling & FT shooting; Star UnderDOG when healthy, Melton thrives as a glue guy/role player
