NBA ROLE: SCORING COMBO GUARD
Patty Mills has the best job ever: ‘instant-O-spark-plug’ – Mills enters the game with one thing on his mind: score in bunches; infectiously energetic on both ends of the floor; changes the pace of a game as soon as he steps on the court, doesn’t need much to get it going; quick off the dribble: Mills is effective w/ midrange pull-ups & finger rolls inside the arc; competitive defender despite lacking size: will slide, take charges and frustrate PGs all night long; undervalued passer, though mainly looking for a bucket; deep range, though poor shot selection comes w/ the territory (from time to time); adds veteran leadership & outside scoring in Miami – Mills is adaptable in any role
*Most players can score but not everyone can earn a coach’s trust enough to jack up crazy shots & play through mistakes – Mills somehow accomplished it under one of the best minds (Gregg Popovich) in league history
