Matisse Thybulle is one of the league’s toughest wing defenders; very disruptive “lock up” G/F* w/ excellent hands, plays passing lanes to a tee - correct positioning + anticipation creates lots of avenues for transition scores; uses athleticism to his advantage, varied shot-blocker (always contests well), uncanny ability to deter & send back jumpers; good slasher, finds buckets without being a focal point - can get to the lane, though needs to shore up foul shooting; needs to work on offense off the dribble & up aggression when given opportunities to score; groomed as a 3&D wing (w/ upside); dealt to Blazers, re-signed for 3 more years (2023) - Thybulle’s an important role player/elite defender, though his offensive improvement is critical to POR’s rebuild
