TREY LYLES (SAC)
SALTY DOG
NBA ROLE: INSIDE-OUT, SCORING FOUR
A versatile, scoring PF, Trey Lyles brings a lot of offensive skill to the four spot; Lyles has some new wave tendencies: can break his man down off the dribble, hit open Js (very good touch from midrange, also converts at a very respectable clip from deep: “corner specialist” badge on 2K) and even push the break; able to score on the move, even after a dribble in some cases; decent passer, needs to read defenders better + find shooters w/ back to rim; improved defender, ends up checking a lot of fives on most nights; rebounds the ball very well in short minutes; Star UnderDOG: extremely effective as Sacramento’s ‘third’ big** (8-10 points, 5-7 boards off bench in under 20 minutes/night) – Lyles plays a critical role in Coach Mike Brown’s system
*tough to stop a powerful 6’10 guy coming around screens ready to make a play
**puts up numbers while avg. just 16 minutes/night
