"Created Player" Anthony Davis Is Back!

There’s no denying Anthony Davis’s incredible impact on the game when he’s afforded a clean bill of health. He’s on an historic run over the last few weeks or so - it’s not just the gaudy stat lines, either: Lakers are playing their best ball of the season and are just two games under .500 after a tough start to the season.

After a ridiculous, 44-point, 20-rebound outburst v. the Bucks on Friday, AD followed it up with a 55!-point (on 22!/30 shooting), 17-rebound performance* (on the road) v. the Wizards. According to NBA stats, he’s the first player in history to record 99 pts, 27 boards & 6 blocks over 2 games.

That’s just pure domination…something Lakers fans are happy to see after a two-year, injury-plagued stretch that limited him after winning the title in 2020.

It’s great to see AD return to his “created player” ways, a style that’s truly unguardable w/ his uncanny mixture of shooting & driving touch, standout defensive & rebounding abilities and relentless attack. His rise as LA’s top threat also allows LeBron James to conserve a bit of energy as they climb the ranks out West.

Don’t write AD & the Lakers off just yet - the MVP (& Western Conference) race just got a lot more interesting.

*1st Laker w/ at least 40 & 10 in back to back games since Shaq in 2000!
