The 2022-23 NBA season is finally here! Well, almost.
Preseason kicked off earlier this morning with a matchup featuring the defending-champion Golden State Warriors & the Washington Wizards - part of the NBA’s Global Games in Japan. For the champs, their first outing legitimately was a tune up, a chance to get feet wet after winning the title just a few months ago.
But on a team with so many important young players, it’s also a opportunity for some of them to shine and earn a sustainable spot in the rotation. There’s lots of talk surrounding Jonathan Kuminga & Moses Moody, two rookie contributors on last year’s team.
While the Dubs expect both to make a nice leap this year, optimism also remains for James Wiseman, the #2 overall pick in 2020 who missed the entire championship season/run due to injury.
Wiseman made his return this morning in impressive fashion. He finished with 20 points & 9 boards, while appearing spry & ready to go as a key scorer & rebounder in 2022-23.
Kevon Looney will (rightfully) maintain his starting spot but Wiseman’s immediate effort and upside is yet another boost to GSW’s hopes of repeating in 2023.
