As stated in his player profile, “Klay Thompson gets hot faster than ANYONE in the entire league.” Last night served as a not-so-subtle reminder of his legendary talent as a long-distance shooter & scorer.
In a 143-141 (shootout) victory over the Hawks on Monday, Klay dropped 54! pts, the second highest output of his career, along with 10! triples, 7 boards & 3 dimes. He trails only Steph for the most games of at least 10 or more made threes in NBA history.
Klay needed a game like this one…and it wasn’t really for himself. Sure, he thrives off confidence like other “shooters” but his inner belief has never really wavered despite outside criticism he received to kick off this season.
Let this performance act as a bold statement that he’s still one of the toughest matchups in the league who can light it up in a moment’s notice. More importantly, the Dubs picked up a(nother) key win, their fifth in a row, sans Steph Curry.
Other major contributors included Jordan Poole’s 28 points & Kevon Looney’s game-winning putback layup at the buzzer.
