NBA ROLE: NEW WAVE, TWO-WAY BIG
Booed on draft night and labeled a project by some idio- er, experts, Kristaps Porzingis is a Top DOG-level player when healthy; highly skilled, new wave big w/ a refined arsenal offensively – Porzingis can get it done both inside & out – very mobile, has tight footwork (for step backs, runners, crossover pull-ups, shimmy turnarounds) & quickness considering he’s a legitimate 7’3; extremely fluid movements, similar to a small forward – can make plays in the open court (as a finisher, shot-blocker); solid rebounder whose best skill (as a boarder) is flying in for nasty put back flushes (over the top!); nice shot-blocker – not a traditional (lockdown) rim protector, though KP often wins challenges, rarely makes it easy; needs to add strength to handle larger opponents on the block; traded to Celtics (2023) – KP’s an All-Star complement to Jayson Tatum & Jaylen Brown: C’s are strong title contenders in 2024
