NBA ROLE: VERSATILE, ALL-AROUND PLAYMAKER

 

Australia’s Josh Giddey is a do-it-all, passing wunderkind with countless dimes up his sleeve - keeps head up looking to create something; signature passes: cross court finds, no-lookers, drop offs; when playing on the ball, Giddey doesn’t think too much: loves to read & react to the flow of the game while creating his own stamp as a play initiator; can get lost in the shuffle off the ball: completely different player with v. without the ball; not much of an outside shooter (shoots sort of a push shot), needs to rework his form and hammer home reps from specific spots; good rebounder, makes a point to run off misses - always looking to advance the ball ahead; can finish in a pinch: Giddey features flip shots, floaters, loves to protect the ball and put great English on layups; lacks the requisite defensive profile for long-term success on that end: Giddey’s improvement will happen via an improved effort and system that fits his style; traded to Bulls (2024) - Giddey’s aiming for a turnaround in Chicago, takes pressure off Coby White & others in the backcourt
