Similar to his twin bro, Amen features some of the coldest, natural athleticism you’ll ever see out of a young prospect - has the makings of a special, two-way playmaker: great vision at 6’7, often visualizes reads before they occur; super fast off the dribble - Thompson is a blur in the open floor, just blasts past opponents using his 1st step; pretty slight build, will need to gradually add muscle before dominating the way he’s capable of doing; nifty scorer who blends athleticism into shots from outside & inside the paint; jumper needs some work, particularly spotting up - seems a bit more comfortable shooting off the bounce at this stage; light-speed euro step a la Zach LaVine - (ever so) briefly shows the ball to his opponents before sliding by for a score; future dunk contest contestant/winner if he chooses to participate: redeemable athleticism & creativity on every move; very good rebounder, despite his smaller frame - plays a strong brand of basketball, looks for tip slams & o-boards; able to rip & run & push the pace in the league - should have freedom to play the 1 and learn on the fly; will be even deadlier if he can adjust to playing multiple spots, particularly the 2 & 3; excellent off hand, likes to finish with his left on the right side; if he masters efficient dribble penetration, there won’t be much the defense can do to stop him moving forward; highly impressive body control thru the air; incredibly instinctive defender: Amen plays passing lanes like no each other, excellent shot-blocker who sells out on every play; strong finish to rookie year, Amen’s a huge part of HOU’s culture: Rockets value Amen, should break out big time in 2025
