The #2 overall pick in 2019, Ja Morant’s dynamic athleticism sets him apart - DIFFERENT type of PG in Memphis; special player - contributes at a high level in multiple areas; tremendous speed gives Morant a huge advantage in almost every basketball scenario - stars in the open court, can easily get by most matchups; very instinctive passer, Morant finds teammates in a number of ways: post-screens, over the top, in transition - always looking to get his guys involved; great ball-handler w/ breakdown ability, uses the dribble as a perfect set up or a drive, dish or J; signature slams: one-handed tomahawk & two-hands w/ power; Morant’s stronger than he appears - able to absorb contact, though body control allows for a variety of moves if he decides to elude (nice improvisational skills); needs to further develop in-between & float attack, has shown promise in both areas; good set shooter with decent range, must prove consistent accuracy moving forward; could thrive as a “pressure” defender in the league; natural connection w/ JJJ; leader of the Grizz - Undisputed Franchise Player - Morant’s brought a new level of excitement back to Memphis; suspended for 1st 25 games of ‘23-’24 - upon Ja’s return, MEM has high hopes for a deep run in 2024
