SCOoT HENDERSON (POR)
FUTURE TOP DOG
NBA ROLE: ÜBER-ATHLETIC PLAYMAKER
Scoot Henderson has hyperactive explosiveness at the 1 spot; plays with a Top DOG mindset: can handle the rock, feels like he can make a play at any time; extremely physical frame & jumper that seems a bit readier than other, dynamic PGs from recent years - can quickly pop into Js off a live dribble, doesn’t get rushed when a defender closes space - form is still a work in progress, though (drops hand down); loves carrying the ball over opponents for scores, either with a nasty flush or “skip-by” layup; still honing true playmaking skills - Scoot projects as a score-first 1 but could rapidly change that narrative (has already shown nice signs operating PnR); doesn’t shy away from shots inside the arc: needs to work on float game but likes select midrange pulls & short Js (likes to fire right in the face of his defender); learning how to mix speeds effectively will make it extremely difficult for him to be contained by a single defender; keeping turnovers down, keying in on defense (should excel at pressuring opposing ppts & collecting takeaways) & getting teammates involved are all imperative for early success; devastatingly spry & bouncy off initial bursts of movement - could evolve into a truly elite scorer by Year 3 or so; solid rookie campaign in Portland: PG of the future in PDX
