Jonas Valanciunas is an extremely productive scorer & rebounder at the 5; opens up well on faceups, backs down aggressively, has soft hands – Jonas isn’t an above the rim finisher but likes eluding his defender before dropping in layups & hooks; top-10 fake man? – rises on his tiptoes (JV fools ya cause he never jumps on his normal shot), catches bigs off guard; great PnR option: Valanciunas catches everything, finishes well; has gotten better on defense but struggles to contend w/ shooting bigs, has difficulty closing out; excellent rebounder* (very active on the o-boards), usually amongst the league leaders; injury prone; loses time to smaller lineups; starting to step out & launch open triples, converted 36% of treys on 2 attempts/night in ‘21-’22; needs to always maintain a high level of aggression during the flow of games & adopt a mean(er) streak defensively; signed 3 yr. deal w/ the Wiz (2024): JV’s a double-double threat every night
