Jarace walker (IND)
FUTURE TOP DOG
NBA ROLE: (RAW) NEW WAVE, TWO-WAY PF
Jarace Walker: 6’8, 235-pounder who plays like a new age power forward: big & strong but can handle the rock & threaten to score from multiple levels; kinda similar style to Naz Reid: game is predicated on a mixture of strength + a light touch; “knucklehead” on the interior: gets great positioning on the glass, fights to corral second chances; good set shooter (though has to work on a speedier release) who can space the floor off screens or spotting up; very decisive after catching in deep - Jarace makes deliberate movements towards the basket, has the requisite quickness & footwork to get around opponents and finish hard; good touch on runners (gets to spots off self-creation), would benefit from a few “back pocket” hook shots after posting; LOADS UP big-time on rejections, tries to send every shot back with incredible authority as a means to discourage repeat offenders; must perfect ability to push the ball in the open floor - not many players will want to step in front of him; needs to stay engaged on both ends regardless of initial minutes, or lack thereof, in the beginning of his career - possesses too much upside to simply “blend in”; could grow quickly w/ Indy’s young lineup: Jarace might be a missing link for Coach Carlisle
